Inspired by the famous TV show, “Whose Line Is It Anyway?”, “Whose Opera Is It Anyway?” is a hilarious marriage of opera and comedy using short-form, game-based improv that has professional opera singers singing about the craziest and most ridiculous things. Our singers will create improvised operas out of fortune cookie messages, commercial jingles or even someone’s text conversation! It’s all based on audience suggestions, and, because they’re improvised, each show is different from the last.
Whether you’re an opera fan, or never seen opera before, you won’t want to miss this unique show featuring Canada’s only improv opera group. “Whose Opera Is It Anyway?” takes the stuffiness out of opera and makes it accessible to anyone.
“Whose Opera Is It Anyway?” has been performed in Toronto since June 2017 as a monthly show, first at Comedy Bar, and then at Bad Dog Comedy Theatre. We have now formed a new partnership to have a permanent time slot at the Social Capital Theatre, beginning in October 2018.
The show began touring in July 2018, performing at the Music & Beyond Festival in Ottawa and the Hamilton Fringe Festival, where we played to sold out shows, enthusiastic audiences and outstanding reviews. We’re now available for more opportunities to visit different cities and towns in 2019 and beyond.
